Bobby Womack Diagnosed With Colon Cancer
<p>Bobby Womack has been diagnosed with colon cancer, according to friend and fellow musician Bootsy Collins.</p>
The 68-year-old soul singer was in the hospital with pneumonia over the weekend, Collins wrote on his Facebook page. On Sunday (March 25), Collins wrote that he had spoken to Womack and then updated fans, "He Wanted You All to Know That He Loves You & Thxs for the Prayers. Docs Says He Is In 1st Stage of Colon Cancer, He is Very Up Beat About His Future, we laughed & joked before we hung up. Thxs Funkateers, we will get him Back on the One!"
Womack worked with the Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Sly & the Family Stone, Janis Joplin and more legendary artists in the '60s before launching his own solo career with Hot 100 singles like "Lookin' For a Love," "California Dreamin'" and "Nobody Wants You When You're Down and Out."
The R&B performer was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009 and was featured on Gorillaz's 2010 albums "Plastic Beach" and "The Fall."
