Indie Release Roundup: Passion Pit, Cat Power, Purity Ring Announce Albums

Indie rock fans looking for some new tunes: rejoice! Passion Pit, Cat Power and Purity Ring have all pegged dates for their new full-lengths.

Electro-pop troupe Passion Pit will follow their 2009 debut "Manners" with "Gossamer," due out July 24. The group has plotted a North American summer tour that heats up in August with performances at Lollapalooza, Outside Lands Festival and Reading & Leeds.

Meanwhile, indie-folk chanteuse Chan Marshall, better known as Cat Power, posted on Twitter over the weekend that her new album, "Sun," will be released on Sept. 11. Her last full-length, the acclaimed "The Greatest," was released in 2006, and in 2008, Cat Power issued "Jukebox," featuring covers of songs by James Brown, Bob Dylan and Billie Holiday.

Finally, art-pop newbies Purity Ring will drop their debut disc, "Shrines," on July 24; the announcement comes three weeks after the band officially signed to 4AD and Last Gang. On July 6, the group kicks off a short tour supporting Dirty Projectors beginning July 6 in Toronto.
