Jessica Simpson Gives Birth to a Girl
Following a pregnancy that seemed to last 40 months rather than 40 weeks, Jessica Simpson gave birth on Tuesday (May 1) to a baby girl, Maxwell Drew Johnson.
"We are so grateful for all of the love, support and prayers we have received," a message reads on her website. "This has been the greatest experience of our lives!!"
Simpson and fiance Eric Johnson's big bundle of joy weighs 9 lbs. 13 oz. and was born in an unspecified L.A. hospital. It's the couple's first child. Simpson's mother Tina and sister Ashlee, as well as Johnson's parents, arrived at the hospital on Tuesday morning.
Us Weekly first reported the birth.
The 31-year-old entertainer announced in October she was pregnant after weeks of speculation. She and Johnson, a pro football player, have been engaged since late 2010.
