The Pop Star Dedicated the Song to His Mom in Honor of Mother's Day
He's proven his "Boyfriend" bona fides. Now Justin Bieber's paying homage to a different woman: his mom. The pop star released the special Mother's Day single, "Turn to You," at midnight on Friday (May 11). Listen to the new track below!
Bieber had teased that the track would be coming soon during his MTV premiere of "Boyfriend" on May 3. I wrote a song for my mom," he said at the time. "I don't know if it's going to go on the album but I think I'm going to put it out on Mother's Day. Just the struggles she went through and how brave she was and i think the world needs to know that."
CELEBRATE MOTHER'S DAY
Before the song premiered Friday, Bieber tweeted about the track, saying that money raised by the song would go "to helping other single moms." He added, "remember where u came from. #giveback."
His mom, Pattie Mallette, also tweeted about the song, writing, "@justinbieber wrote me a song for Mother's day! So excited 4 #TurnToYou out 2morrow, it made me cry.. Proceeds going 2 help single moms!" He replied with a "love u." (Aww.) The adorable tweets continued through the night, with the "Boyfriend" singer finishing his Twitter fest with a sample of his own lyrics, "So when your lost and your tired, when your broken in two, let my LOVE take you higher, cause I still #TurnToYOu," and a link to buy the song on iTunes.
Bieber's new album, "Believe," is due June 19.
