Rock Icon Tackles New Songs in His Walmart Soundcheck Session
Don't expect any studio left-turns on Slash's "Apocalyptic Love."
"Everything you're hearing on the record is what actually happened when we were playing the song," the guitarist said in an exclusive interview with Walmart Soundcheck. "There's an energy to that. When it comes to rock 'n' roll delivery, the best way to do it is the same way that you would do it live, which is as spontaneous and in the moment as possible."
The making of the veteran rocker's sophomore solo album was a collaboration with Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy, who connected with Slash during the making of 2010's "Slash." Their relationship grew during the subsequent tour, when Slash needed someone who could handle the new material as well as his iconic catalog -- from Guns N' Roses to Velvet Revolver.
"I had a gut feeling he was the only person who could do that," Slash said.
