MTV Movie Awards Ups the Music With Martin Solveig, Black Keys

Martin Solveig performs as part of Day One of Ultra Music Festival 14 at Bayfront Park on March 23, 2012 in Miami, Florida.

Fun. and Wiz Khalifa Will Also Perform on the June 3 Show

Even the MTV Movie Awards will be influenced by electronic dance music this year, as Martin Solveig join the list of musicians that will be performing at the event. The "Hello" hitmaker will be house DJ for the evening, remixing themes from iconic films, including "Star Wars," "Jaws" and "Pulp Fiction."

Although the rest of the lineup ranges from indie to hip-hop, MTV plans to highlight EDM at the Movie Awards this year. "Music has always been core to the awards, but this year, we wanted to expand its presence to serve as the primary connector that drives the entire show," Amy Doyle, head of music and talent strategy at MTV, said in a statement to Reuters. "Having a house DJ ... will add an exciting new layer to the show and is a continuation of our full embrace of the EDM movement."

The Black Keys were also added to the show's roster Tuesday (May 29), and the Ohio duo will be performing "Gold on the Ceiling," the second single from 2011's "El Camino."

They join fun. and Wiz Khalifa for a night that's beginning to look like just as much music as movie. British comedian Russell Brand will host the event, which airs on MTV this Sunday (June 3) at 9 p.m.

Kid Cudi ("Project X"), LMFAO ("21 Jump Street"), and The Chemical Brothers ("Hanna") are all nominated for Best Music, a category which MTV says "honors the song with enough melody magic to set the ton of an entire scene." College and Electric Youth ("Drive") and Figurine ("Like Crazy") are also up for the award.

Lupe Fiasco, Trey Songz and the Foo Fighters performed at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards, hosted by Jason Sudeikis. Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera, Eminem, Kings of Leon, Coldplay, Rihanna and Amy Winehouse have all performed in recent years.
