Rihanna Scores 22nd Hot 100 Top 10, Gotye No. 1 for Eighth Week

R ihanna continues to reign supreme on Billboard's Social 50 chart this week. She holds at No. 1 on the tally, reeling from media excitement generated by her film debut in "Battleship." Further, a series of remixes of her popular single "Where Have You Been" hit iTunes last week.

The Social 50 chart ranks the most popular artists on YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, using a formula that blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with weekly artist page views and weekly song plays.

"Where Have You Been," from Rihanna's sixth studio album "Talk That Talk," rises 13-11 on the Hot 100 this week, continuing to be one of the most popular tracks from the pop star's late 2011 release. The remixes EP, released May 22, features remixes by Hardwell, Papercha$er and Hector Fonseca.

Lady Gaga furthers her progression on the chart, moving 5-2. Continuing the story from last week, on May 27 Gaga officially announced the cancellation of her June 3 show in Jakarta, Indonesia. Lady Gaga took to Twitter and Facebook to make the announcement to her fans:

"We had to cancel the concert in Indonesia. I'm so very sorry to the fans & just as devastated as you if not more. You are everything to me. I will try to put together something special for you. My love for Indonesia has only grown. #GagaSendsLoveToJakarta and all its people."

Fans were issued a full refund on their ticket purchase for the sold out show. "It's unfortunate," said Minola Sebayang, a lawyer for concert promoter Big Daddy, told the Associated Press. "But with threats if the concert goes ahead, Lady Gaga's side is calling it off. This is not only about Lady Gaga's security, but extends to those who will be watching her."

Despite disappointment from fans over not being able to see the Gaga, her online fan acquisition showed no sign of waning. It earned a 12% increase over the previous week.

Linkin Park continues its climb up the chart as well, moving 15-8 to re-enter the top 10 for the first time since last July. The band performed the first of a series of concerts promoting its forthcoming album "Living Things" In Lisbon, Portugal on May 26. That show came two days after the MTV Premiere of its "Burn It Down" music video on May 24, a song that the group also performed May 20 on the Billboard Music Awards. All of this promotional activity generated extra buzz around the band, helping it earn an 18% increase in overall plays across VEVO and MySpace during the charting week.

Elsewhere on the chart, popular YouTube animated band Your Favorite Martian experienced substantial gains during the charting week by hopping aboard the Gotye bandwagon with its own cover of "Somebody That I Used to Know." The cover has received over 3,000,000 views since its May 23 release. That's certainly a nod to the sustained popularity the original single continues to have on the Internet as it enters its seventh consecutive week as No. 1 on the On-Demand Songs chart.

As for the rest of the top 10, Adele tumbles (2-3) as does Skrillex (3-4), while Katy Perry rises (7-5). Justin Bieber's continues to descend the tally as he falls 4-6, making room for the aforementioned artists who had more substantial online activity. Nicki Minaj falls (6-7) as does One Direction (8-9). Jennifer Lopez remains steady at No. 10.
