Owl City, Carly Rae Jepsen Ready for 'Good Time' on Hot 100

Following the May release of his "Shooting Star EP," Owl City has veered in a sprightlier direction, teaming up with current pop sensation Carly Rae Jepsen on "Good Time." The song, which Owl City premiered via his SoundCloud account on Wednesday (June 20), is set to drop on iTunes next week (June 26). Listen below.

For his forthcoming LP, "The Midsummer Station," Owl City (Adam Young) teamed up with pop producers Emily Wright and frequent Rihanna collaborator Stargate. It only makes sense that he's joined by Jepsen, the voice behind the undeniably catchy "Call Me Maybe," for the album's infectious first single, a track that could become a radio staple for the rest of the summer.

The song nestles in comfortably among the current slew of "sleep all day, party all night" top 40 hits, with corny-but-memorable lines like, "I'm in if you're down to get down tonight / 'cause it's always a good time."

Jepsen's sugar-coated vocals often get lost beneath the song's heavy synth-pop production, but nonetheless, the Canadian singer adds some variety to the standard Owl City track. As she hums along on upbeat pop lines like "good morning and goodnight / I wake up at twilight," Young repeats the stuck-in-your-head chorus.

Carly Rae Jepsen Hits No. 1 on the Hot 100

Owl City's "Midsummer Station" will be released Aug. 14 and while Jepsen's as-yet untitled debut album isn't due out until September, her hit single has already reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
