M83 to Score Tom Cruise's 'Oblivion'

"I've wanted to do soundtracks for so long," M83's Anthony Gonzalez told The Playlist. "Starting with such an ambitious project, especially in the sci-fi category, means a lot to me."
The film, due April 26, 2013, will star Tom Cruise as an isolated Earth repairman who rescues a strange visitor. Direct Joseph Kosinski has a history of working with electronic acts: on 2010's "Tron: Legacy," he teamed with Daft Punk for the space-age score.
M83's sax-aided 2011 album "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming" was a chart success for the French group, peaking at No. 15 on the Billboard 200. For the upcoming project, Gonzalez intends to go even bigger.
"I like challenges, and it excites me more than frightens me," he said. "I can't wait to hear my music played by amazing musicians and an orchestra and brass and maybe choirs. It's a chance to create something big and I'm ready for it."
