Jeffrey S. Hubbard is under investigation following a jet ski collision that left 11-year-old Kyle Glover brain-dead, the New York Daily News reports.
Glover, Usher's stepson with ex-wife Tameka Foster, was hit along with a 15-year-old girl in Georgia's Lake Lanier on Friday. The boy remains hospitalized in Atlanta's Egelston Hospital, according to the Daily News.
On Monday, Hubbard was identified as the jet ski driver. He's reportedly family friend of the R&B singer, born Usher Raymond IV.
"Basically, a pontoon was pulling two juveniles on an inner tube, and the watercraft ran over the top of them," Sgt. Mike Burgamy told the Daily News, adding that two Department of Natural Resources rangers had witnessed the accident. "One minute the jet ski was running around, the next he ran over the top of them. It happened that quickly. It appears the watercraft did strike both juveniles, with the male taking the brunt of the force."
Alcohol was reportedly not involved. No charges have been filed, with Burgamy explaining that any action will depend on Glover's condition.
Usher and Foster divorced in 2009. They have two children together, in addition to three (including Glover) from Foster's previous relationships.
