Flo Rida took the stage amidst a sea of screaming fans at Sunday's Teen Choice Awards where he performed a medley of his current Hot 100 hits, "Whistle" (No. 7) and "Wild Ones" (No. 13). Flo's hooks had people grooving in their chairs and even inspired Taylor Swift to jump up and demonstrate some far-from-country dance moves.
Prior to the awards, Billboard caught up with Flo on the red carpet to discuss the latest in his world. On his new album "Wild Ones," which dropped on July 3, Flo says his fans have been incredibly supportive. "I have to pinch myself because it's so surreal," he proclaimed. Flo spoke about the album being inspired by his travels around the world and cited Michael Jackson as a big influence on his career. "I'm definitely inspired by that and all the fans. I want to give them a party."
As far as what fans can expect in the coming year, the rapper confirmed the rumors of a possible Flo Rida workout DVD, saying that it could come out as early as the end of the year. "I'm definitely going to do that. I have quite a workout regimen. I've always been about fitness and my fans can definitely appreciate that."
Will the workout be something people can do at home? "It will definitely be flexible," said Flo, who is preparing to hit the road for his upcoming tour.
Flo also touched on recent statements regarding his desire to team up with Beyonce. While he hasn't had any conversations with the singer yet, he definitely thinks it would be a "hot collaboration." He also admitted that he'd love to work with OutKast at some point.
Asked how many times people have called him Florida by mistake, he smiled and said, "I can't even count" and explained that it doesn't bother him at all.
He didn't take home any surfboards at the Teen Choice Awards -- NIcki Minaj claimed "Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Artist" and "Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Song" and Justin Bieber won "Choice Single by Male Artist" and "Choice Summer Music Star" - but that didn't seem to stop the hitmaker from having a good time at the show.
