Alleged Battery at Jackson Home Exposes Family Tension
"Something is really off," says Paris Jackson, who hasn't spoken to her grandmother in 8 days
Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies were summoned to the home of Michael Jackson's mother Monday on reports of a fight involving several family members, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The news came a day after Katherine Jackson, the family matriarch, had been located in Arizona -- where she is said to be under doctor's orders to "de-stress" following a mini-stroke -- on the heels of a missing person's report filed by another relative.
A Sheriff's Department spokesman told the Times on Monday that deputies responded to a "family disturbance" at Katherine Jackson's home in Calabasas, Calif. A report was taken, but there were no arrests.
"Deputies determined that a physical altercation had occurred, a battery," he said.
The spokesman added that the incident involved "members of the Jackson family," but he didn't name names.
Katherine Jackson had been reported missing Saturday by her nephew Trent, who said he was concerned because the 82-year-old had not been heard from in a week.
Michael Jackson's daughter, 14-year-old Paris, then hit Twitter to voice her own concerns and give a phone number for people to call if they knew of her whereabouts.
"I haven't spoken with her in a week I want her home now," Paris Jackson tweeted. (Katherine Jackson has been caring for Paris and her brothers, Prince Michael and Blanket, since their father died in June 2009.)
On Sunday, authorities said they had located Katherine Jackson at her daughter Rebbie's home in Arizona.
Jermaine Jackson also took to Twitter to assure that his mother was OK.
"I want to reassure everyone (inc all sudden medical experts) that Mother is fine but is resting up in AZ on the orders of a doctor, not us," her son Jermaine tweeted.
But the incident demonstrated divisions in the Jackson family just days after five of the singer's siblings once again claimed that the King of Pop's will was a fake and that the executors of his lucrative estate should step down.
On Monday night, Paris Jackson confirmed on Twitter that she still has not spoken with her caregiver. "8 days and counting," she wrote. "Something is really off, this isn't like her at all .. I wanna talk directly to my grandmother."
