Blake Fielder-Civil: 'I Had a Plan to Save Amy Winehouse'

Blake Fielder-Civil, Amy Winehouse's ex-husband, was reportedly found choking in his bed last Friday by his partner Sarah Aspin. He was taken to a hospital with multiple organ failure, the Guardian reports.

Mitch Winehouse, Amy's father, confirmed the news on Twitter. "Terrible news about Blake this morning. Remember Amy loved him. Let's pray for his recovery," he wrote Thursday morning.

In the past, Mitch Winehouse has been outspoken about his dislike for Fielder-Civil, telling Piers Morgan that although he didn't blame his daughter's 30-year-old ex-husband for her death, "He introduced her to Class A drugs and she took it like a duck to water." In his memoir, "Amy, My Daughter," Mitch Winehouse called Fielder-Civil "the biggest low-life that God ever put breath into."

After Fielder-Civil was taken to the hospital in West Yorkshire after a reported drug and alcohol binge, medics induced a coma and he is now on a life support machine.

Aspin, Fielder-Civil's partner and the mother to his son, told the Sun that the doctors don't know the prognosis. "They said they put him in a coma to help him and due to infection. I'm praying he'll survive, but I'm having to prepare myself that he may never wake up," she was quoted as saying.

Fielder-Civil and Winehouse's infamously rocky and drug-filled marriage lasted for two years. The couple divorced in 2009, two years before the 27-year-old beehived soul star was found dead in her London home of an accidental alcohol overdose.
