| Mariah Carey: Big TV Performance "Soon;" Cannon-Directed Video
Mariah Carey 's new single "Triumphant (Get 'Em)" has already generated plenty of buzz, especially after she announced last week that there are three versions of it (a hip-hip take featuring Rick Ross and Meek Mill, a "vintage throwback remix" and a "pulse club mix." But fans have plenty more to look forward to before her next album, which is tentatively due in March. Carey's manager, Randy Jackson, tells Billboard.com that she has a "big performance planned soon for television," a vague but tantalizing hint. Jackson reveals that "Triumphant" was inspired by Carey's husband, Nick Cannon and his fight with kidney failure, and that the just-shot video will be directed by him as well. The clip is set to debut in the coming weeks.
| Ellie Goulding & Skrillex's Summer Playlist
U.K. singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding , whose single "Lights" is currently at No. 2 on the Hot 100, says that she and boyfriend Skrillex have been both digging a lot of the same electronic artists in their spare time. "It's interesting because in a way we're quite different but we have really similar tastes in music," the 25-year-old singer tells Billboard. Goulding adds that, along with artists like Birdy Nam Nam and Netsky , she's been enjoying the stylings of some of Sonny Moore's recent tour partners. "He's just been on a tour with Blood Diamonds and Grimes . I'm such a big fan of Blood Diamonds, I think he's fucking incredible, and I love Grimes, she's really cool," says Goulding. "She's a fan of me, which I was really humbled by. I was like, 'Yeah I'm a really big fan' and she said '. . . I'm a really big fan too.'"
| John Legend Picks Lianne Las Havas
After meeting him just weeks ago, U.K. singer/songwriter Lianne Las Havas tells Billboard.com that John Legend has picked her as the opening act for his tour during October and November before she heads out on her own supporting her debut "Is Your Love Big Enough?" (out this week). "I met John a month and a half ago when I was here [in New York]," Lianne says. "We met up and played some songs together. He played me some of [his] new album and I played him some of my album, which he liked. I'd like to think that's the reason he asked me to support him."
| Christina Perri: New Album This Fall
Ready for new music from Christina Perri ? It may not be too far away: the "Jar of Hearts" singer says that the follow-up to 2011's "Lovestrong" will be put in motion following her stint opening for Jason Mraz's North American tour concludes. "I'm just going to be touring with him for the next two months," Perri tells Billboard, "and then I'm going to start my second album when I get home in October."
