Muse's New Single Will Be Straight-Up 'Madness'
New tune coming out next week, ahead of October album.
Fresh off of a performance at the Closing Ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics, epic rock maestros Muse have announced that a new single will be unveiled next week in anticipation of their sixth studio album, "The 2nd Law."
"Madness" will be released to radio and digital retailers on Monday (Aug. 20), with "The 2nd Law" hitting stores on Oct. 2. The album was originally supposed to be released through Warner Bros. Records in September.
"There are electro-pop sounds and songs that are obviously classic rock," frontman Matt Bellamy told Rolling Stone about the band's follow-up to 2009's "The Resistance." Bellamy also mentioned that the track "Follow Me" includes the sound of his son's heartbeat, recorded on an iPhone while the baby was still in the womb of his wife, Kate Hudson.
Another album track, "Survival," served as the official song of the 2012 London Games, playing as athletes entered venues and before medal ceremonies. Muse also contributed to a Closing Ceremony that included performances by the Spice Girls, George Michael and The Who.
Following the album release, Muse will embark on a lengthy tour of Europe that begins on Oct. 16 in Montpellier, France. The trio heads to the U.S. in 2013.
