Green Day Cancel Voodoo Music Gig
Green Day have pulled out of the Voodoo Music Experience, the band announced on Monday.
"Canceling shows is something we rarely do," Tré Cool said in a statement. "We never want to let our fans down, and we are grateful for all of you being understanding during this time."
The group was the first announced headliner for the three-day New Orleans festival, which they'd previously played in 2004. They were slated to perform Oct. 27.
The group postponed a number of promotional appearances after frontman Billie Joe Armstrong's on-stage meltdown at the Las Vegas iHeartRadio Festival in September. He subsequently headed to treatment for substance abuse.
Armstrong's issues haven't derailed the band's releases: "¡Uno!" bowed at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 last week with 139,000 copies sold, second only to Mumford & Sons' juggernaut bow for "Babel." Green Day will also contribute a track to the "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" soundtrack, due Nov. 13.
