Cat Power Postpones European Tour, Cites Illness

A medical condition will keep Cat Power from touring Europe this year, the musician announced through her Instagram account.

"As many of my fans know, I've been suffering from angioedema. It can attack at random & is extremely frightening and dangerous when it hits my throat, windpipe, or tongue, and I've been hospitalized for it eight times since the first attack, 2 DAYS AFTER MY RECORD RELEASE," she wrote.

Her latest album, "Sun," was released in September. She'll complete her American tour with a pair of final dates this week, concluding in Los Angeles on Thursday.

"The American tour has been wonderful and amazing," she wrote, but added that she can't afford to bring her show "with full production" to Europe and needs to return home for her "health regimen."

"I f***ing love my fans," she continued. "Everything I do regarding my career, I FIRST, think of my fans and this world we all share. But right now, I HAVE TO think of myself because I have to learn trough meditation & being clear from alcohol & cigarettes & red meat and lots of rest amongst my menagerie of doctors.... I have to think of MYSELF right now because I have to now LEARN to heal myself.."

Explaining that she plans to bring the tour to Europe early next year, she concluded with a political message, hashtagging the post, "#VOTE #OBAMA #FIGHT #THE #POWERS #THAT #BE."

"Sun" bowed at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 with 23,000 copies, Cat Power's highest chart debut yet.
