Kelly Clarkson conjures explosions while hitting some explosive notes -- and letting her hair shimmer in slow-motion -- in the official video for "Catch My Breath," which was released on Monday (Nov. 12).
The clip finds Clarkson tiptoeing over water, with gorgeous blonde locks flowing over her elegant dress. Fire flares up above the "American Idol" star's head with every empowering chorus, and in a particularly gorgeous sequence, Clarkson delivers the song's bridge as bubbles float around her.
"Catch My Breath" previews Clarkson's first best-of compilation, "Greatest Hits - Chapter 1," due out Nov. 19 on RCA Records. The track list includes a round-up of the biggest singles from Clarkson's five studio albums, as well as "Don't Rush," a collaboration with Vince Gill that the singers performed at the CMA Awards in Nashville earlier this month.
As for "Catch My Breath," the reflective pop track peaked at No. 54 on the Hot 100 upon its release last month. ""This song represents who I've been, what I've felt, and where I'm headed," Clarkson wrote of the song on her web site, "as not only an artist but as a 30 year old that is now smart enough to know that it's time to stop, catch my breath, and be proud of not only what has been accomplished but of all the people that have helped me become the woman I am today."
Clarkson will presumably perform "Catch My Breath" at the 40th annual American Music Awards on Sunday night -- the singer was just added to the list of performers, alongside Carly Rae Jepsen, PSY, The Wanted and Swizz Beatz.
