Will.i.am on Britney Spears Song Leak: 'It's Not in Your Control'

So close. Will.i.am's new single with Britney Spears, "Scream & Shout," sprung a leak over the weekend, mere days before the much anticipated track was to premiere this afternoon. C'est la vie says the Black Eyed Peas star.

"Well, that's done," he told Billboard on the American Music Awards red carpet. "You can't undo it. It's out. It made it real."

Will and Spears recorded the song three months ago and shot the video a month and a half later, with the intention to release both at the same time.

"But once things go to the editing and coloring, it's not in your control," he admits. "You don't know what that intern's getting paid. Or not getting paid. You don't know what's going on in their heads."

At press time, the song's video has not suffered the same fate. While earlier reported that it would debut on "The X Factor" on Thanksgiving night, during an interview with Ryan Seacrest on his syndicated radio show (Nov. 19), it was stated the clip would arrive on Nov. 28.

Will promises "uber fresh fashion" in the clip. "The young kids brought their game," he said. "I don't want to say it's 'swag.' Because swag is… it's dope, but this is beyond swag. This is swag in reverse, which is gaws."

Billboard can also exclusively report that Will's album, "willpower," which was pushed from its December release because of leaks, will drop in Soontember. "Yeah, a lot of things got leaked," he said, promising fans will see the album in early 2013.

"Scream & Shout" isn't the first song the pair of pop superstars have worked on together. On Spears' "Femme Fatale" album, released in spring 2011, will.i.am wrote and produced the track "Big Fat Bass."
