Eli Young Band Sings "I'll Be Home For Christmas"
Tis the season for hot cocoa, dashing through the snow and, of course, holiday tunes. With winter 2012 upon us, we've asked a series cool artists to give those old favorites a new turn, in the Merry Melodies video series, presented by Starbucks. This week, Texas-based country quartet Eli Young Band puts a twist on "I'll Be Home For Christmas," and the members share their thoughts on what makes the song and the holidays special.
"One of the biggest reason we picked 'I'll Be Home For Christmas' is because, with musicians, as much as we're away from home, this song really resonates probably pretty deeply for us," vocalist Mike Eli explained, before the group launched into their version of the holiday classic.
Ever since the band formed, nearly 15 years ago, Eli explains that they have always taken time to slow down and enjoy the holidays, returning "home for Christmas" from the road each year.
Added drummer Chris Thompson, "This Christmas is actually a big year of firsts for us as far as family. I think it's probably the most important year for us to be home because there's new babies and new wives and new family everywhere."
