Elton John Shares First Photo of Baby Zachary

Elton John and partner David Furnish announced the birth of their son via a surrogate on Christmas Day, and now, the couple has released the first-ever photos of their new family.

On the cover of Us Weekly's new issue out Wednesday (Jan. 19), John and Furnish are photographed with their new bundle of joy, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John.

"I've never felt anything like it in my life," says John of holding his son for the first time. "You're so awestruck. What can you say? You take it in. The feeling, the joy, the warmth of his body, his breathing...I will never forget that experience ever."

Zachary is the first child for the British rock star and Canadian filmmaker, who entered into a civil union in 2005 after 12 years together. In 2009, the couple tried to adopt a Ukrainian orphan named Lev, but a national law prohibiting unmarried couples from adopting halted the process. John and Furnish tell the magazine that they're still trying to find a home for Lev and his HIV-positive, four-year-old brother, Artyom.
