"American Idol" season 7 runner-up David Archuleta has been dropped by Jive Records, a label spokeperson has confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

Rumors that Archuleta had been dropped first began spreading on Thursday night (Feb. 17), after the singer's former manager confirmed the news to an inquiring follower.

Archuleta's 2010 sophomore studio album "The Other Side of Down," peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 album chart and has sold 67,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan -- a significantly lower sum than his 2008 self-titled debut, which shifted 765,000 copies, and his 2009 holiday album "Christmas from the Heart," which sold 246,000.
