Bieber and Gomez, who were first spotted together on clandestine outings but have gradually taken their relationship public, arrived arm in arm on the red carpet. The newly-shorn teen idol sported a all-black three-piece suit with a red pocket square to match Gomez, who wore an elegant red floor-length gown.

Other music stars in attendance at the Vanity Fair Oscar party included Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger, who arrived with girlfriend L'Wren Scott, and Taylor Swift, who was snapped mingling with actress-turned-country singer Gwyneth Paltrow.

Paltrow performed best song-nominee "Coming Home" at the Oscars, but the "Country Strong" tune lost out to Randy Newman's "We Belong Together," from "Toy Story 3." Trent Reznor and collaborator Atticus Ross, meanwhile, won best original score for "The Social Network."
