In ELLE's Women in Music issue hitting newsstands April 12, Gwen Stefani appears on the cover and in a portfolio also featuring Adele, Willow Smith, Robyn and Nicki Minaj, among many others. Stefani talks about writing hits, performing while pregnant and her marriage to Gavin Rossdale: "The first time we ever kissed was right around Valentine's Day-we were in New Orleans on tour," she says. Janet Jackson Peforming at the Louvre in Paris
Janet Jackson will be the first female pop artist to perform under the iconic I.M. Pei glass pyramid at Paris' Louvre Museum. Jackson, who has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, will perform in conjunction with the museum's biannual fundraising event, "Liaisons au Louvre," on Tuesday, June 14. ( THR)
Bloc Party Starting on New Album in September
Following a two-year hiatus, Bloc Party will reconvene in September to begin working on their fourth album, according to guitarist Russell Lissack. "We're having a bit of a break until the festivals are over, because people have commitments during the summer, but we're going to get back properly in September and sit in a rehearsal studio to work on new band material," says Lissack. Sheryl Crow has teamed up with chef Chuck White for "If It Makes You Healthy," a new cookbook filled with delicious and nutritious recipes. "I have worked with Chuck off and on for three years," says Crow. "He's extraordinarily talented. Captain Beefheart, Al Green, De La Soul Recordings Selected For Library Of Congress
On Wednesday, Librarian of Congress James H. Billington named 25 new additions to the ninth annual National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress. The selections included Edward Meeker's "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" from 1908; Al Green's soulful "Let's Stay Together"; the Western classic "Tumbling Tumbleweeds" from the Sons of the Pioneers; and performances by Nat "King" Cole, Les Paul, Blind Willie Johnson, Steely Dan, Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band and De La Soul.
