Pitbull is supporting the release of his latest album, "Planet Pit," an iPad app off the same name. Developed by ROBA Interactive, the app provides several hours of behind-the-scenes interviews on the making of every track, recording sessions, a virtual studio tour and images of his handwritten lyrics in both Spanish and English. Other features include a video timeline of Pitbull's career, bonus tracks, interviews with collaborators on the album, photos, and access to Pitbull's Facebook profile and website.
Viddy, the "instagram for video" app, unveiled a new feature called the Branded Production Pack, which allows artists using the app to give fans the ability to customize their videos. Incubus is the first band to offer the new feature. The band is asking fans to create 15-second video clips of their "if not now, when?" moments in their lives, and use the production pack to add one-click visual effects and audio from the single "Adolescents."
Casting itself as a blend of Pandora and Spotify, Radical.fm released the public beta of its new social radio service. The Web app combines personalized Internet radio with on-demand playlist features, with social networking and personal broadcasting layered in. Similar to Turntable.fm, the service lets users tune into the personalized radio broadcasts of other users. Today, the only the RadCast personalized radio feature is live. The Play-On-Demand feature carries a premium subscription fee and won't go live until "a later date." A DeeJay feature, which lets users leave personal messages for listeners tuning into their broadcast, is another pending feature.
