Amy Winehouse Adoption Claim 'Not True,' Rep Says

Amy Winehouse leaving The Hawley Arms Pub on November 10, 2009 in London, England.

Despite rampant Internet rumors and a report in a British tabloid, Amy Winehouse did not plan to adopt a 10-year-old from the Caribbean island of St. Lucia before she died, her rep confirms.

"It's not true," her rep tells TMZ of reports that she planned to bring Dannika Augustine to London, as the U.K. Sunday Mirror claims.

"I think [Amy] might have met her in St. Lucia, but she was in no way about to adopt her," the rep adds.

Augustine's family tells the Mirror, "I would call her Mum. And she would call me her daughter. She took care of me, and we had fun together. I loved her, and she loved me." Her grandmother also reportedly told the paper the adoption process was in the works.

Winehouse took a months-long break in St. Lucia in 2009. There are photos of her with Augustine.

Winehouse was found dead on July 23 in her North London home.
