Bruno Mars Releases Dark 'Twilight' Single, 'It Will Rain': Listen

Bruno Mars performs onstage at the BET Awards '11 held at The Shrine Auditorium on June 26, 2011 in Los Angeles, California.

Whether Bruno Mars is Team Edward or Team Jacob (he actually told that he's "Team Bella all day" last week), the singer-songwriter is certainly hurting on "It Will Rain," the first single from the "Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1" soundtrack that was released on Tuesday (Sept. 27).

Produced by the Smeezingtons (Mars' "Just The Way You Are," Cee Lo Green's "F--- You"), the moody track features Mars crooning about lost romance over sweeping strings. "There'll be no sunlight, if I lose you baby," Mars sings on the chorus, in a line that should get vampires everywhere cheering.

Speaking to about the track last week, Mars said, "The 'Twilight' movies for me (are) a love story. But it's a dark love story. And I think the best way to describe the song is: it's the darker side of love. I think that pretty much sums it up."

The "Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1" soundtrack will also feature songs by Christina Perri, the Joy Formidable, Theophilus London and the Belle Brigade, according to an official track list that was released on Monday. The soundtrack, which will be released on Nov. 8 through Summit/Chop Shop/Atlantic, follows three "Twilight" soundtracks that have moved 4.5 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
