Decemberists' Keyboardist's Cancer 'Officially in Remission'

The Decemberists' keyboardist Jenny Conlee's breast cancer is in remission, according to band frontman Colin Meloy.

"For those of you wondering, saw Jenny this week; our girl's officially in remission! #teamjenny #beyondchemodrome," he wrote on Twitter on Thursday (via Pitchfork).

Reports of Conlee's diagnosis emerged in May, in the midst of the group's North American tour dates. She nevertheless joined the band for its appearance at the Sasquatch Music Festival at the end of that month despite initial expectations that she would miss a number of dates.

"I will try to get into surgery as soon as I can after we return from this leg of the tour so I can begin my recovery," Conlee wrote in a message to fans in May. "There are still a few unknowns out there concerning my cancer, but I am thinking positive and hope to be back on the road soon. Thanks for all of your support!"

The well-read rockers are prepping a new EP, "Long Live the King," for release on Capitol on Nov. 1 -- a sequel to January full-length release "The King is Dead," the band's sixth studio album.
