To toast a year in which she made Hot 100 history, launched a sprawling world tour, earned the top prize at the MTV VMAs and stayed married to Russell Brand, Katy Perry is performing a free concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Nov. 23, a day after she wraps up her California Dreams tour at the same venue. The singer made the announcement during a visit to "Ellen" that will air later today (Nov. 11).
"I am giving thanks to all of my fans," says Perry. "This is my big announcement on 'Ellen' that no one has heard about or knows about. I played 121 shows up in to the (Nov.) 23rd date, and I want to finish it off by renting out Staples (Center) myself and giving a free concert to anyone in the world that wants to come to the 'California Dreams' Tour as my last show."
Perry also talked to Ellen DeGeneres about the possibility of starting a family with Brand, whom she married in October 2010. "Yeah, I would love to have children," she says. "I think that's one of the reasons you get married. Especially to the person that you marry. You think, that person is going to be a good partner, a good parent. But, I'm not sure it's yet. We'll see, ya know."
When asked if she wanted a lot of kids, Perry replied, "If it doesn't hurt the first time. I'll keep popping them out!"
Perry's latest single, "The One That Got Away," vaults 34-18 on this week's Hot 100; if the track climbs to No. 1 on the chart, it would mark the sixth single to do so from Perry's sophomore album "Teenage Dream" and set the record for most Hot 100 No. 1s from a single album. The video for "The One That Got Away" is expected to be released later this afternoon.
