Boy bands new (1D/The Wanted) and old (Backstreet Boys) are thriving these days, but don't expect 'NSYNC to join the trend. J.C. Chavez, currently a judge on MTV's "America's Best Dance Crew," tells The Hollywood Reporter that fans shouldn't hold their breath for more "Bye Bye Bye" from the boys.
"It's just not in the cards," he says. "I'm sure that everybody in my group has been asked at one time or another -- I know I get asked, I know the other guys get asked -- but we're happy with what it was and we're happy to move on."
With Kevin Richardson finally signing on for an official and complete Backstreet Boys reunion, plus reports of a possible reunion tour for 98 Degrees (though they were ultimately shut down), it would seem as though the option of reuniting would have at least been discussed -- if only between Chasez and his former band mates.
"We really feel like if you're going to do something like that, it has to be for all the right reasons," he explained. "Everybody says, 'Oh you'll make a ton of money, you'll get a ton of people to come,' but that's not the reason we did what we did in the first place. We did what we did because we believed we had something to offer the entertainment world that was essentially fresh, and until we feel that way again, it's not gonna happen."
In the meantime, fans can get their J.C. fix on America's "Best Dance Crew," airing Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on MTV.
