Fiona Apple has resurfaced with a new music video for “Hot Knife,” a track from her 2012 album, “The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw And Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do”.

Directed by filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson, who has also worked with Apple on videos in the past (“Paper Bag,” “Fast As You Can,” “Limp”), and edited by Brendan Walsh, “Hot Knife” focuses on different shots of Apple, silhouetted in a dark room by a spotlight, as she drums and sings the tune with conviction.

Cutting from color to black and white, the frame splits and multiplies when Apple’s sister, Maude Maggart, enters, as her vocals are featured on the song.

Until now, Apple has been relatively inactive due to the passing of her beloved dog last year in November.

During the month of its release (June 2012), Apple's fourth studio album, “The Idler Wheel...” reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and debuted at No. 1 on the Alternative Albums and Rock Albums charts.
