The Dead Signs On For Inaugural Bash

As a precursor to its spring reunion tour, the Dead will play the Mid-Atlantic Inaugural Ball on Tuesday (Jan. 20) at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

The band initially reactivated last year to play two benefits for President-elect Barack Obama in California and Pennsylvania.

"The Dead are honored to have helped out on the campaign and are looking forward to the inauguration show," the band tells Billboard.com.

The Dead's reunion tour begins April 12 in Greensboro, N.C., and will encompass 16 "evening with" shows in 19 cities through May 10 in San Francisco.
