With a new album on the horizon, everyone's favorite Oklahoma band the Flaming Lips has also fulfilled its role as curator for the U.S. editions of the All Tomorrow's Parties festival, to be held September 11-13 in Monticello, New York. Bands added to the Sunday lineup include Super Furry Animals, Oneida, Crystal Castles and Boris, while Bob Mould will now officially join No Age in performing an entire Husker Du album. Deerhoof, Caribou and the Boredoms are also confirmed to join headliners the Flaming Lips on Sunday (Sept. 13).
This marks the second year that All Tomorrow's Parties will bring its "boutique" festival philosophy to Kutsher's Country Club, located in the picturesque Catskills region of upstate New York. The festival is tiny in comparison to other U.S. festivals, with a capacity reaching only 2800. The experience offers a host of underground acts as well as the chance to see performances that have been selected by other artists instead of a traditional concert promoter.
As previously reported, the Flaming Lips will release their first double album entitled "Embryonic." A release date is still unknown but the group has offered a tease of new material. For those who bought tickets to an upcoming concert, they were treated to three song digital EP. That EP has since gone on sale at digital retailers.
