The Pixies will kick off the first leg of a world tour in Paris on Sept. 29. On Friday the band graced fans with "Bagboy", the first new song from the group since 2004.
The Paris date will also mark the first time that the band will be playing with new bassist, Kim Shattuck. Earlier this month Kim Deal, the group's co-founder, announced that she was leaving the band. Shattuck played bass with Los Angeles based punk girl group The Pandoras throughout the mid-eighties and later founded the indie rock band The Muffs.
The new lineup has taken refuge in their Los Angeles rehearsal space, working on both new and old material. Pixies have announced that they will be debuting a number of songs throughout the tour, as well as playing a number of more obscure Pixies cuts they haven't included in setlists before.
"Along with everyone's favorites, we'll be playing songs that we haven't played in ages or never played live before," said frontman Black Francis. "Songs like 'Brick is Red,' 'Havalina,' 'Tony's Theme.' and 'Sad Punk.' We've probably rehearsed some 80 songs, so we'll be able to change up the set at the last minute if we feel like it. We're all really looking forward to this tour."
