Neko Case Teams With M. Ward on 'Man' Single, Announces New Album

Neko Case

Alt-country warrior Neko Case has announced plans for her first studio album since 2009's well-received "Middle Cyclone." The new record is titled (deep breath) "The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You" and comes out Sept. 3 on ANTI.

Above, you can stream the first sampling from that album -- a rollicking rocker called "Man" with some particularly acerbic lyrics and talk on gender roles from Ms. Case. For example:

"If I'm dipshit drunk on pink perfume then I am the man in the fucking moon, because you didn't know what a man was until I showed you."

The track features M. Ward (of She & Him fame) on guitar duties. Other guests on the album include Steve Turner, Howe Gelb, and members of My Morning Jacket, Calexico, Los Lobos, Visqueen, and the New Pornographers, of which Case is also a member.
