The pop star also talks his next single, a RedOne-produced track with "Backstreet Boys/'N Sync melodies."

Taylor Swift is about to welcome a new opening act on her Red tour: Austin Mahone.

The rising star says "it's a huge honor to be opening" for Swift, who will pick up Mahone starting with her May 4 show in Detroit. Mahone will tour with Swift through Aug. 10. At the same time, he'll headline his own trek, which has dates announced through September 21.

On the red carpet at the Radio Disney Music Awards on April 27, Mahone also teased the release of an upcoming single, produced by RedOne. Mahone promises that the cut is "gonna be crazy," and that "it's different, but it sounds amazing." The track will boast "Backstreet Boys/'N Sync melodies," anchored in a modern sound.

The cut, which doesn't have an announced title as of yet, is from Mahone's forthcoming debut album, due out later this year on Chase/Republic Records.
