Roughly a week before Dave Grohl and his Sound City players hit South By Southwest, the supergroup accompanied John Fogerty on a scorching rendition of "Fortunate Son" on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Tuesday night (Mar. 5).
The all-star troupe took over Hollywood Boulevard for the special performance, which featured the Foo Fighters frontman trading verses with Fogerty on the Creedence Clearwater Revival classic. The duo sang harmony on the chorus while Foos drummer Taylor Hawkins let loose in the background.
The Sound City Players formed from Grohl's "Sound City" documentary chronicling the famed recording studio; "Sound City: Real To Reel," its accompanying soundtrack, will be released on Tuesday (Mar. 12). Grohl has previously performed alongside artists like Paul McCartney, Jimmy Page, Stevie Nicks and Rick Springfield over the past few years.
On Mar. 14, Grohl will host a "Sound City Players at SXSW," presented by Citi Private Pass and Billboard and taking place at Stubb's in Austin. Nicks, Fogerty, Springsteen, Rage Against The Machine's Brad Wilk, Rick Nielsen and Slipknot's Corey Taylor are among the confirmed performers.
