New two-day festival coming to Boston this Memorial Day Weekend.
Recent Grammy darlings fun. and indie-rock stalwarts the National lead the lineup for the first-ever Boston Calling festival, a two-day alternative music showcase and one of the few outdoor summer fests to take place in Boston. The festival, presented by Crash Line Productions in a partnership with Bowery Presents, will be held over Memorial Day Weekend (May 25-26) at City Hall Plaza.
The inaugural lineup was co-curated by the National's multi-instrumentalist Aaron Dessner, who also had a hand in selecting the All Tomorrow's Parties U.K. lineup last December. Other Boston Calling highlights include the Shins, Of Monsters and Men, Marina and the DIamonds and the National's upcoming touring partners, the Dirty Projectors.
Tickets for the festival are set to go on sale on Friday (Mar. 1) at 10:00 am ET. Two-day general admission passes will cost a fairly reasonable $120.
Fun. will take the Boston Calling stage in the middle of a massive European tour that heads back to Germany on June 7. The National, meanwhile, has announced that the follow-up to "High Violet" will be released in May, and has plotted a tour beginning June 5 at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
