The lead track from "Bankrupt!" embraces a synth-heavy sound.
Phoenix's new single promises "Entertainment," and the track doesn't disappoint.
The French band's single debuted on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show on Monday, the group's first new music since 2009's "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix." The thickly produced track's blend of synths, electric guitars and the upbeat vocals of Thomas Mars is signature Phoenix, lead by a twinkling keyboard riff. Lyrically, the track's less a party-crasher than a lament about letting go: "I'd rather be alone," Mars sings to close the chorus.
The "Entertainment" single lands officially on Tuesday. The band's new album, "Bankrupt!," is due April 23 on Glassnote Records.
