As if previously announced headliners Kanye West and Kings of Leon weren't enticing enough, the 2013 Governors Ball Music Festval has added Guns N' Roses as a third headlining act. Axl Rose and co. will head to Randall's Island Park in New York City during the weekend of June 7-9.
The appearance marks GN'R's first major U.S. performance since the group wrapped its Las Vegas residency at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino last fall. "We're stoked to be performing at the Governors Ball!" says Rose in a press statement. "We're all really excited in GNR to be part of this festival, and with such talented and diverse acts in what looks to be a great weekend!!"
The current iteration of GN'R has had some unsavory experiences on the festival circuit: in 2010, the group was jeered at the U.K.'s Reading and Leeds festivals after showing up late to its headlining set. After the band's set was cut short, Rose declared "war" on Leeds organizers.
Along with West and Kings of Leon, the third annual Governors Ball fest will feature performances by Nas, the Avett Brothers, Grizzly Bear, the Lumineers, Feist and Crystal Castles, among others. When the rest of the lineup was announced last month, a mysterious "to be announced headliner," which turned out to be the "Chinese Democracy" rockers, was part of the bill.
