Dave Grohl won't just be bowing his directorial debut at the Sundance Film Festival this month.

The Foo Fighters frontman will also lead the debut performance of the Sound City Players, a group gathering "core musicians and special guests" from "Sound City," Grohl's documentary on the venerable recording studio. The doc is a selected film at Sundance.

The performance will come Jan. 18 at the Park City Live venue.

Who's in the group isn't clear yet, though Grohl, fellow Nirvana alumni Krist Novoselic and sideman Pat Smear recently teamed joined up with Paul McCartney for the film soundtrack's lead single, "Cut Me Some Slack." The group performed the song at the "12-12-12" Concert for Sandy Relief last month.

"Sound City" includes appearances from musicians including Stevie Nicks, Trent Reznor, Tom Petty, Metallica and many more.
