Jingle Ball 2012 Photos: New York & Los Angeles

Users of the 4Chan forums antagonized Justin Bieber fans on Monday with a dark Twitter hashtag.

Members of the 4Chan message board have gone after Justin Bieber fans again.

After an October 2012 attempt to launch the #BaldForBieber tag -- a hoax that the pop singer had cancer and his fans were shaving their heads in support -- the web pranksters have taken on a more harmful subject.

In the wake of photos surfacing on TMZ that claimed to capture Bieber smoking a marijuana joint, 4chan users launched a campaign dubbed #CutForBieber in mock protest, including apparent images of self-harm. Fueled by fake accounts, the tag trended on Twitter in the U.S. on Monday.

'Bald for Bieber' Hoax a Massive #Fail

"Lets start a cut yourself for bieber campaign," an anonymous user wrote on the message board. "Tweet a bunch of pics of people cutting themselves and claim we did it because bieber was smoking weed. See if we can get some little girls to cut themselves."

However, the 4chan plot was discovered by several media outlets before the message board threads were removed.

"OP DELETE THIS THREAD, WE HAVE BEEN SPOTTED," another user wrote, a reference for the original thread poster to remove the evidence.

Bieber himself ignored the hashtag. He responded to TMZ's previous report with several ambiguous tweets, writing, "everyday growing and learning. trying to be better. u get knocked down, u get up."
