Country music's top ticket seller, Kenny Chesney, will take his live act to NFL stadiums in 2007 with the just announced Flip Flop Summer 2007 Tour. The tour kicks off at Heinz Field, home to the Pittsburgh Steelers, on June 9. Chesney will be joined by an impressive lineup of support acts, including Brooks & Dunn, Sara Evans, Sugarland and Pat Green.
In addition to Pittsburgh, the tour will hit Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field (June 23), Seattle's Qwest Field (July 7), Cleveland's Browns Stadium (July 14), Foxboro, Mass.'s Gillette Stadium (July 28) and Detroit's Ford Field (Aug. 18).
Chesney grossed nearly $66 million and sold over 1.1 million tickets in 2006, according to Billboard Boxscore. While his gross ranked him second to Tim McGraw & Faith Hill's tour, his ticket count was tops among country artists. He's the only country artist to sell 1 million-plus tickets for four straight years.
That milestone is "something that obviously I didn't even know how to dream about when I was dreaming of doing this for a living," Chesney told Billboard in October. "I'm thrilled that people are loving our music like that -- not just hearing it on the radio, but actually living their lives with it. They want to come see it live."
As previously reported, Chesney will also appear at the inaugural Stagecoach festival on May 6 in Indio, Calif. Additional summer dates are expected.
