With three nominations, Beyonce is leading contender for the 2007 Soul Train Music Awards. The nominations for the 21st edition of the awards were announced this morning (Feb. 6) at Spago restaurant in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Two of Beyonce's nominations were for hit single "Irreplaceable," which earned nods for best R&B/soul single and the Michael Jackson Award for best R&B/soul or rap music video. Her sophomore album, "B'Day," is up for best R&B/soul album, female. Vying against Beyonce in the R&B single and album categories is double nominee Mary J. Blige. Others also receiving double nods are Chris Brown, John Legend, Ne-Yo, Gnarls Barkley and Yung Joc.

Recipients of this year's special honors will be announced separately in the coming weeks. Those honors include the Quincy Jones Award for outstanding career achievements and the Sammy Davis Jr. Award for entertainer of the year.

Singers LeToya and Omarion will co-host the event, which will tape March 10 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, Calif. It will air in national syndication the week of March 17-24.

The Soul Train Music Awards are determined by a panel of radio programmers, artists and retailers.
