Herren Busy With Savath + Savalas, Prefuse 73

The next release from Scott Herren's Savath + Savalas project is finally within sight.

The next release from Scott Herren's Savath + Savalas project is finally within sight. According to a post from the Prefuse 73 mastermind on his Web site, the as-yet-untitled effort will be released in June -- just as soon as the artist whittles down 15 tracks from the 40 that have been recorded.

"The new album is done ... Unfortunately, I had indecision issues about which songs to choose," he said. "So far we've recorded over two hours of songs."

Herren has been recording with Australian drummer Laurence Pike and will also be heard collaborating with Swedish songwriter Jose Gonzalez. As previously reported, the as-yet-untitled album will be Savath + Savalas' Anti- Records debut and will be the follow-up to 2004's "Apropa't."

As for Prefuse 73, Herren is "steady working and trying new things on this new album coming out," asserting that he has not abandoned that project. On the production front, Herren is mixing an album he produced for the Japanese rapper Twiggy. Guests include Del the Funky Homosapien and Aloe Blacc.

Finally, the artist claims he is "holding back on live shows" but will be performing with Warp labelmates Battles in April.
