With two awards each, Mexican rockers Mana, pop trio Camila, teen diva Belinda and Canadian rocker Avril Lavigne were the big winners at last night's (Oct. 17) Premios MTV Latin America honors.

Now in its sixth year, the awards were held at Mexico City's Palacio de los Deportes, with actor Diego Luna as host. Winners were selected by a record 12 million voters -- up 240% from last year -- who voiced their opinions online at MTVla.com and via text messaging.

MTVTr3s allowed viewers to cast votes for three special awards: Aventura captured "MTV Tr3s Best Pop Artist"; Wisin & Yandel won for "MTV Tr3s Best Urban Artist"; and Kat De Luna brought home the "Tongue" for "MTV Tr3s Best New Artist." Additionally, among the year's new honors were the "Influencia Award," which went to the Cure, and best urban artist, taken by Daddy Yankee.

Performers for the evening included Juanes, who won the new "Agentes de Cambio Award" (Agents of Change) for his altruistic work, Lavigne, Hilary Duff, Jesse & Joy, Kudai and Division Minúscula.

The awards aired live on MTV Latin America's three feeds and in syndication on MTV Brazil. Domestically, it aired live on MTVTr3s and will run MTV2 and other MTV channels worldwide.
