Six hip-hop artists on Stones Throw Records highlight the 14-stop, third annual 2K Sports Holiday Bounce Tour, co-sponsored by VTech Phones. The cross-country trek kicks off Thursday (8) at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, winding up Dec. 8 at the Loft in Atlanta.
Label founder/DJ/producer Peanut Butter Wolf, Madlib, Guilty Simpson, Karriem Riggins, J.Rocc and Percee P headline the tour, with 2K Sports video game lounges stationed at each stop. Tour songs will include selections from the recent 20-track CD "Peanut Butter Wolf presents B-Ball Zombie War."
Attendees will get to play some of the publisher's latest games, including the upcoming "College Hoops 2K8" and previously released "All-Pro Football 2K8" and "NHL 2K8." Demo discs also will be given out, letting gamers try before they buy.
"We're very excited to have the Stones Throw artists supporting the 2K Sports brand while providing a unique entertainment experience for our collective fans," Tim Rosa, 2K Sports' brand & lifestyle marketing director, tells Billboard.com. "Individually and collectively, they represent an important and positive force in the hip-hop community."
The upcoming "College Hoops 2K8" for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PS2 has an eclectic soundtrack highlighted by an exclusive track, "MASH," from late super-producer J Dilla featuring MF Doom and Guilty Simpson. Also contributing tracks are Dilated Peoples, Jurassic 5, DJ Romanowski, the Black Lips, Liars, Hot Chip and the Kooks.
Artist selection for the "NHL 2K8" soundtrack, available on the same three game systems, includes Bloc Party, Tokyo Police Club, Korn, Quiet Riot, Comeback Kid and Early Man.
