Stevie Wonder is hitting the road late this summer for a rare European trek.

The artist today (June 5) confirmed plans to play 12 dates, beginning Sept. 8 at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England. He will perform a handful of concerts in Britain, before moving on to the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Italy and France, where he will wrap the run Sept. 28 at the Paris Bercy.

Live Nation is producing the tour, Wonder's first in Europe for more than a decade. Last year he broke a hiatus of that length by touring North America.

The singer was on hand to relay the news at a media gathering in London's Hard Rock Cafe, where he played an exclusive set. "I am looking forward to performing in these venues in Europe. We are going to have some wonderful nights of intimate excitement," he said.
