Demi Lovato Stays 'Cool For The Summer' with Special Guest Iggy Azalea at MTV VMAs
The "Fancy" star joined Lovato for a new remix of the Top 20 hit.
Demi Lovato made her MTV Video Music Awards live debut on Sunday night (Aug. 30) to perform “Cool For The Summer,” her latest Top 20 hit and the lead single to her fifth studio album, and brought a special guest -- her pal Iggy Azalea, who provided a verse for the song's remix!
Lovato began the performance of the "Summer" song in a beach chair, with towel-clad male dancers soon joining in and the pop star stabbing a giant cherry piñata prior to the second chorus. Then, Azalea arrived as a pseudo-surprise (her appearance was teased in the telecast's introduction), as the Australian rapper delivered her rhymes with her back to Lovato's sultry moves. Lovato then floated on an inflatable boat for the grand finale, with confetti floating down during the song's enormous hook.
“Cool For The Summer” has peaked at No. 16 on the Hot 100 chart following its July 1 release (its current position is No. 17). Lovato has previously crashed the Top 20 with “This Is Me” featuring Joe Jonas, “Here We Go Again,” “Skyscraper,” “Give Your Heart a Break” and “Heart Attack.”
Last week, Lovato announced that Confident, her follow-up to 2013’s Demi, will be released on Oct. 16 through Hollywood Records. The album will feature a collaboration with her pal Iggy Azalea titled “Kingdom Come.”
