Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin and Chayanne enjoy sales spikes following their performances at the 2014 Billboard Latin Music Awards
With a bevy of performances consisting of hit songs and new releases, the 2014 Billboard Latin Music Awards, broadcast live on Telemundo on April 24, provided quite a musical menu for viewers to enjoy. Many also took to digital retailers to show their enthusiasm, as sales for the 17 songs previously available increased by 88 percent to 37,000 downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Additionally, two new tracks premiered on the show, Ricky Martin's "Vida" and Chayanne's "Humanos A Marte," combined to move 9,000 downloads in their first week of release. Martin's "Vida" enters Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart at No. 11. The cut starts at No. 4 on Latin Digital Songs with 6,000 downloads sold. Chayanne's "Humanos" enters Hot Latin Songs at No. 37. The debut marks the Puerto Rican singer's first appearance on the chart since 2010, when "Si No Estas" peaked at No. 30. "Humanos" opens at No. 4 on Latin Digital Songs, selling 4,000 downloads.
Among other show-based movements evident on the charts this week, Enrique Iglesias steps 2-1 on Latin Digital Songs with "Bailando," featuring Descemer Bueno & Gente de Zona (12,000, up 108 percent). The track leaps 9-2 on Hot Latin Songs, also bounding by 23 percent to 6.9 million radio audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS. Iglesias took home the BBLMA for Hot Latin Song of the Year, Vocal Event, for "Loco," featuring Romeo Santos.
